HIV/AIDS is a life threatening disease that affects a large proportion of the Sub-Saharan African population. South Africa ranks number one in the world for the highest number of adults living with HIV/AIDS. In order to combat the disease, education and awareness about the spread of the infection and use of condoms as preventative measures needs to become more prevalent to reduce the number of people contracting the infection. Happy and healthy babies need proper vaccinations and care to prevent getting infections. Babies do not have immunities to infections so it is important that they are cared for by a medical profession to maintain a healthy and happy childhood and adult life.

Children’s school education must include curriculum on staying healthy and preventing disease. The classrooms must serve as an open forum in which children can ask questions and learn about staying healthy through disease prevention, diet, and exercise.
